Our Woods project in Corby

Our Woods is a 6 month project of events based in the wonderful woodlands in Corby. The ‘new town’ was built around them, and this project is to raise awareness and appreciation of them. Some splendid events- like tree climbing for grown ups. i took a group for a day of observation drawing in KingsWood using a variety of materials. In contrast a bit later i led a night walk after which we did recalling from visual memory.

Printmaking workshop at the Mall Galleries

Yesterday i was in London at the Mall Galleries to run a screenprinting/basic serigraphy day in conjunction with the Natural Eye exhibition. Lovely bunch of hardworking printers really got stuck in. i don’t take workshops very often, so it’s good when it’s mixture of fun and concentration.

new calendar

Now delivered from the printers, my calendar for 2017 is ready. It’s ‘birdy’ again, but this time the black and white paper cut-out illustrations have been reproduced in dark violet on pale blue. All the pages can be browsed on my website.

Exhibitions

Last weekend two shows opened with my work in: a lot of work at Cambridge Contemporary Art in a three person show, and a few pictures at the Artichoke Gallery in Ticehurst, on the Kent/East Sussex border. Nice photos from Artichoke, with my Fox and Owl in the window, but i haven’t got any photos from Cambridge. However i will be at Cambridge Contemporary Art again next Saturday 15th from 2 – 4 doing a walk and talk around my part of the exhibition.screen-shot-2016-10-09-at-18-07-34

Open Studio

Thanks to Claire Maxtead for photographs at my open studio at the weekend. Teas in the garden in aid of the church roof were damp on Saturday and sunny on Sunday. We hope for a sunny repeat next weekend.

Birdfair 2016

This year at the Birdfair i shared a double stand with Nik Pollard, which made it an even more sociable weekend. It’s a great opportunity for meeting people, getting feedback, and having more conversations in three days than one usually experiences in three months! I had to have a day in the hammock to recover, reading John Aitcheson’s ‘The Shark and The Albatross’.IMG_0323

Another difference at this year’s Birdfair was that, having supplied the artwork for their publicity, I kept seeing it all over the place. The fundraising from this year will go to Madagascar to save a forest where the Scaley Ground Roller and Collared Lemur live, so they are on the poster. Bit of a departure for me.
